What Makes Email Marketing Effective Or Ineffective?

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

You can perform a very fast and repeated communications to broadcast your website, products or services the way you want it and as many times you want. A very detailed campaign can jump start your business with very little cash or maybe just for free.

What are the secrets to a successful campaign? When you send your emails to a group of people interested on your niche or market, the probabilities of getting them to buy what you offer will be very high. Don’t waste your money or time on people that will not get you anywhere. A great tip is that when you are crafting your email message is to put your customers first name in the headline, this will surely get their attention and increase your rate of response by as much as 50%. Also you can keep their interest if you keep mentioning their names throughout the text of the message. You have to be conscious that people get swarmed with emails every day, so you need to make yours different if you want to be seen.

A headline must have all the ingredients to catch the eyes of the reader. People keep forgetting that a title is the first thing a person will see from your message. If it doesn’t click in their minds, your message will be most likely passed over or tossed to the recycle bin. You could have the most interesting and up to date article or message, but if you don’t pull those eyes through your title, your message will never be read.

In your first paragraph you should try to create excitement and a desire to let them know how your product will help them to solve their particular situation or problem. Remember to present benefits, benefits to keep them glued and interested in what you have to say. You need to ask yourself these questions when you are writing; how will they benefit by reading my email? What will they learn? and how I will make their life easier? Think of them and not on you and you will go farther than you think. Remember to use the word “You” and not “I” in your message.

Make it simple and easy for people to read your message. Easy enough for a fifth grader to understand what is your message all about. Test, test and do more testing on your headline, first paragraph but make sure to test one at a time and record your findings. Prepare an effective signature file with your email address, website link, phone number, company name etc, and make it no more than 3 to 4 lines. Humans like to work with humans, don’t get too fancy with voice mails, recording messages, technology is good but nothing better than talking to someone or a face to face conversation. Benefits, benefits, benefits to your customer is what you’re after.

By designing an effective email campaign and keeping what you learned so far in this article will take you farther that you could have never imagined. You may be able to contact thousands and even millions of prospects through a strong email message. Many people have at least one email account, so you stand a big opportunity to reach out and touch many people. But don’t even think for a minute that you are the only one, there are many other that have used these techniques and are refining them every day. Take the time to prepare an outstanding message and give them your unique selling proposition in an informative way and you may be a winner at email marketing.

Email Marketing For Newbies – 3 Surefire Tips For a Successful Email Marketing Campaign

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

Email marketing is a great way to convert people on your list to paying customers. But, did you know that the majority of newbie online business owners have no idea of the effectiveness of email marketing?

Email marketing is a simple procedure. A person will read your article that you have written and click through on your link offered at the bottom of the article. This link sends the reader to your squeeze page where they choose to join your list. Then you begin your email campaign by sending them information about your website and products that you offer or other pertinent information that they should know about your niche.

Here are 3 surefire tips that will ensure that your email marketing campaign is a success:

1) Concentrate on techniques that work. The purpose of an email campaign is to build a trust with your subscriber so that they will become your customer. Only write about positive information regarding your product and don’t concentrate on any negative aspects if there are any.

2) Be specific about your product. Write the proper information to the people who signed up for your list — they signed up for a specific topic so give it to them. Don’t send information about Product B to people who signed up to learn about Product A. However, if the information for both products is generic, then giving them new information is OK and it might lead to the sale of another product!

3) Keep Your Customer Informed. Even after the reader becomes your customer and has purchased Product A, continue to send them information about the product. And, if you have another product that supports or can be used in conjunction with product A, then you can slowly begin offering information about product B, C and D.

If product A does what you said it would and helped solve your customer’s problem then you have built up an amazing trust between you which makes the customer more likely to make further purchases from you with your other products.

Email Marketing Strategy To Motivate the Opt-In

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

When you first start out in internet marketing you are probably going to focus on building your site, developing quality content and then doing all the leg work to build links and get your pages ranked. You are Holy Grail is to get on page 1 of Google right? Well what happens when that becomes a reality and you have a steady stream of visits? Are you counting on your content alone to capture their attention? Would it not be great if you could find a way to keep contact with them?

Well there is and you are going to want to consider creating your own email marketing list and apply your own email marketing strategy.

If you’re thinking “If email is such a great marketing tool why don’t I just buy a list” then know this. First of all finding a legitimate email list broker is getting more and more difficult and buying the wrong list could get you in trouble with the CAN SPAM law.

Secondly, the big problem with these lists is that they are not targeted leads. They didn’t specifically request what you have to offer. You could get lucky and maybe a few might be interested but chances are that most of them won’t be.

So what is the solution?

Build your own list.

That might sound a bit daunting but it really isn’t. Besides, which list would you rather own. Eighty addresses where the subscriber specifically opted in for your email or a 1,000 email list full of people that never heard of you before? Would you have more fun and interact more at a party where you knew everybody, or at a place where you knew nobody and they didn’t know you?

It’s all about building relationships.

So how do you motivate that visitor from Google to sign up for your list? Well you want to reward them in some way and one of the best ways is to give that visitor something of value for free.

Free downloads.

There are tons of free stuff that you can give away to your list. You can give away things like free articles, free PDF, videos, software downloads, free ebooks, and free templates. Think of something that your market would be interested in a give it away to help build up your list. You can put the freebies on your website and make it password protected so only your list will know the password. You keep giving away free stuff to your subscribers and that will keep them happy and keep them coming back for more.

Write your very own Ebook.

You could write something that gives your subscribers what they are interested in. A good ebook is likely to pull in many subscribers. Many successful marketers use this one tactic to get people to subscribe to their list. If you think writing an ebook is difficult, think again. After all you’re not going after the Pulitzer Prize you just want to deliver valuable information.

You can start by writing 15 articles that are 1000 to 1500 words long that would benefit your readers. These articles can cover something generic or you can break it down into smaller niches. The important thing to remember is to offer them quality content and your writing is original

Place all of your articles into notepad or Microsoft Word. And then create a nice looking graphic design as the cover. Be sure to include your name, the name of your business, your business address, and a statement advising that the contents are copyright protected. For even more traffic tell your readers to refer others so they can get a free copy too.

When you are finished with your document you can then turn it into a portable document format file using a free PDF converter. Presto you are the proud author of an ebook.

If you are not that great at writing then you might want to think about outsourcing the whole process to someone else or even shopping the better PLR sites for a ready made book.

The more you cater to your list the better off you will be in the long run and the more money you will make with this email marketing strategy.

Email Marketing Strategy to Double Your List in a Flash

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

The most successful email marketing strategy is to build multiple email lists each targeted to a particular niche or product. Instead of relying entirely on search results to drive traffic to their site, thanks to their lists they can actively “visit” their audience as frequently as they like. It is these lists, not the site, that generate the bulk of the sales.

Think about it for a moment. When a visitor arrives at your website how much can you possibly know about what interests they have? Sure your analytics can tell you which pages are the most popular and how long people stay on the site but that’s information on the entire group of visitors not just an individual.

But what if you had a site on lawn care and you sent out an email to your list covering three subjects like lawn mower reviews, organic gardening and the best plant food with a link back to your site for each subject. Now what if you had an email service that could tell you who opened the email and what if any link they clicked on.

What you would wind up with are three new lists, one for each subject and those lists would be populated by the email addresses that clicked on the links. What does that tell you? It tells you that this individual subscriber has a specific interest. So perhaps the next email you send out goes to the organic gardening list promoting the “greenness” of a push mower over a power mower. The plant food list obviously has people who have plants. Maybe this is a great list to send an email about the special you have on garden shears.

Do you see how much more valuable your information becomes when you know the interest of a specific subscriber? This is where the sales come from, not the random visitor to your site.

After you’ve built a fair size list you can take it to another level. If you are running your lawn care site, search out another quality site that promotes say patio furniture. Contact that webmaster and see if you can work a deal where he sends an email to his list promoting or recommending something on your site and you do the same on your list for his site.

The two of you are not competitors but your products are probably of interest to both your audiences. Now, both of you can double the exposure to your products by using each other’s lists to promote the sites. Obviously you have to pick your partner carefully because it’s your credibility on the line when you make a recommendation.

“The money is in the list” is more than just a catchy saying it is an absolute truth. Email marketing, particularly fine tuned niche email marketing strategy is what can make your internet marketing efforts make real money. Just remember that your primary objective is to give value to your list. If you are perceived as just some guy trying to peddle goods you will be hit with a ton of unsubscribe requests.

If you carefully analyze the behavior of your subscribers and manage your lists correctly, even when you send a blatant sales email you’ll be sending something of value because the subscriber has told you they are interested. Find out what they are hungry for and then feed it to them.

The Time is Right For Email Marketing

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

Often when businesses begin to dabble in email marketing, their main concerns is content, subject lines and offers. And quite rightly so as they are all very important. But there is also another equally important aspect that is often overlooked – when is the best time to send your emails?

The best time to send your emails depends on a number of factors:

  • who your audience is
  • what your content is
  • why you’re sending the email…

There is no magic way of determining the optimum time and day. It simply goes back to good old fashioned trial and error.

A general rule

This general rule is the one I use.

I tend to send my emails during the working week. Not everyone is a workaholic so I never send business communications such as email marketing at the weekend.

For me, the best days are Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.

Why not Monday?
Take a look at your own Monday. As it’s the first day back in the office after the weekend it’s going to be hectic. You’re either finishing off last week’s jobs or launching headlong into your new batch of emails.

When looking at your emails you’ll skim them to pick out the most important ones. Because of your huge workload you’ll delete all those which you won’t have time to look at – i.e. the newsletters!

Why not Friday?
This time, you’ll be winding down for the weekend. Your time will be spent frantically trying to finish off those last minute jobs that landed on your desk at lunchtime. There is no time for newsletters and marketing emails now and you definitely don’t want to see them on Monday morning so they get deleted.

Tuesday and Thursday then

This is why I always opt for a Tuesday and Thursday as my best days to broadcast.

That’s not to say people are sitting around doing nothing mid week, but there does seem to be more time to read or at least glance at newsletter and marketing emails. Of course, for this to happen you still have to have a strong subject line that’s going to grab their attention and open your email.

But just because it works for me doesn’t mean it will be right for you. The only way to really discover the optimum time to send your communications is through testing. Try it and test it – who knows you may come up with completely different results to me.
