Minimizing Damage to Oil Paintings

If you’ve spent a lot of money just to acquire priceless oil paintings, you’re certainly entitled to be just a wee bit obsessed when it comes to caring, cleaning and minimizing damage to your oil paintings. In this article, we’ve listed three points to ponder to minimize damage to oil paintings.

Framing – I know, I know, the selection of frames to keep your oil paintings should purely be based on its aesthetic value but really, it shan’t be the case if you want to minimize damage to your oil paintings. If your oil painting is done on fabrics, it’s probable that a wooden frame is used to encase it. A wooden frame is also called a stretcher or trainer, by the way. Although there seems to be no harm done caused by wooden frames, you might want to change your opinion later on during extreme temperature changes.

How do these happen? Moisture is easily absorbed by materials like wood and fabric. Both materials also swell when humidity is present and shrinks in its absence. It’s not the same, however, with paint.

The change in size affects the oil painting and may cause the canvas to sag. Okay I know, I’m taking the long cut with this so bear with me. I just want you to understand the basics behind the warning. Now, because frame makers are aware of the changes these materials undergo, they made sure that they’re expendable joints you can use to “key out” the oil paintings and make sure it remain taut.

And the warning – don’t have it keyed out during the cold months of winter because it might cause the painting to TEAR. That’s right, not darken, not get dirtied but TEAR.

Lighting – So now you better about framing. I’m sure you’re more wary this time when it comes to lighting levels. I’ll keep it simple this time, don’t you worry. My warnings about lighting levels will be to the point: Keep oil paintings in locations that are not easily reached by the harsh rays of sunlight.

If you have no options left about where to keep them, then just make do with closed drapes. Secondly, the ideal light level for oil paintings is 200lux. Thirdly, don’t succumb to temptation and illuminate your oil paintings so its glory may be seen by all. I tell you, it would be simply murderous to your oil paintings.

Temperature and Humidity – As this was already briefly discussed already during the framing process, you now know that humidity level can very much affect the surface of your paintings. So what do I advise regarding humidity levels? Basements are just a no-no to your oil paintings. In relation to temperatures, please do think about buying temperature sensors because fluctuations can likewise cause damage to your oil paintings,if you need more information, you can visit my oil painting site http://www.photo2all.com

Why Credit Repair Counseling Is Losing Credibility

Why Credit Repair Counseling Is Losing Credibility

Legitimate credit repair services are losing credibility because of some unscrupulous companies that purposely mislead customers who put their trust in them to help them repair their credit.

It is widely believed that you can repair your own credit without the help of a credit repair service. The only real way to improve your credit rating is to improve your debt-income ratio and to pay your monthly obligations on time. You don’t need a service to help you accomplish this.

What most credit repair counseling services are actually offering you is debt reduction. Using this type of service can actually do more harm than good to your credit rating, as you will end up paying less than the agreed monthly amount and this will result in your payments being reported 30 days late month after month.

Another tactic that credit repair counseling services use is to send to the three credit reporting agencies letters stating that the negative information on your credit report is inaccurate, and demand that they remove this information. Credit reporting agencies are required to remove this information while they investigate the claim that the information is inaccurate. While this investigation is going on the credit repair counseling service pulls your credit report and shows you that your credit score has improved. They then demand payment from you. After this has occurred the investigation at the credit reporting agency will result in the negative information being placed back into your credit file and you are no better off than you were before.

There are some credit repair agencies that are not out to scam you. These agencies will legitimately help you to have incorrect information removed, to have information corrected when you have paid-off items that are still showing past due. They can also help you to have items listed twice removed, or items that are actually your children’s clarified.

When it comes down to it, this is about all a legitimate credit repair agency can do to help you improve your credit. No credit repair counseling agency can have negative items removed if they are correct. These items remain for up to seven years, or even longer.

The best thing to do is to handle your own credit issues. You have the right to contest incorrect information and you are in the best position to know what is correct or incorrect on your credit report.

Vividly Beautiful Vienna

Austria’s wonderful capital Vienna spreads along both sides of the “Blue” Danube at the very foothills of the Alps. The city is a smorgasbord of Baroque with a dash of art nouveau. Circling the old town is the striking revivalist architecture of the Ringstrasse Vienna’s main boulevard. These buildings range from the charming Opera House to the monumental Natural History Museum. Nestled throughout the city are the graceful art-nouveau buildings of turn-of-the century architects Otto Wagner and Adolf Loos. The buildings are one of the many remnants of the artistic and intellectual flowering that took place in Vienna at the turn of the century. Of course the buildings and the city’s history is only a backdrop for the daily culture that can still be found in the concert halls opera houses and cafes.

The heart beat of the city can be found along Ringstrasse. Vienna is a 19th-century invention. As one walk around the area one has to take a break at a sidewalk cafe and have one of the city’s superb pastries. The Viennese invented cafe society and there is no better pastime than to linger over a torte read a newspaper and watches the Viennese. Each cafĂ© has its own personality; while the lavish cafes inside the Ringstrasse are most impressive the smaller ones just outside have a charm and authenticity that should also not be missed. Don’t just try only coffee one can even try the Austrian fruit teas and black teas; they are so flavorful that one will wonder what one has been drinking all these years. Other cafes that are not as stodgy and expensive as the ones on the Ring are the illustrious, beautiful and comfortable Cafe Sperl; any of the cafes near the Naschmarkt, Freud’s house, the house designed by Wittgenstein, and gorgeous St. Charles Church which a must visit site Hawelka; Brauenerhof, where the lacerating and hilarious writer Thomas Bernhard spent his mornings; and many others. While the Biedermaier pulse of Vienna, long associated with the upper-middle class and collective repression, may be found along the Ring, its darkly satirical flip side is found in these and similar haunts.

If the Ringstrasse is the pulse of the city the old city is the heart. This is where the city’s main attractions are located and this area being a pedestrian zone it is also a great place to stroll. For an overview climb the bell tower of the St. Stephen’s Cathedral. The cathedral built in 1258 is easily identifiable by the zigzag pattern of its roof tiles. Between St. Stephen’s and the State Opera House is Karntnerstrasse Vienna’s main shopping street. Nearby is the Albertina museum which houses more than 200 000 drawings and works by Albrecht Durer among others. At another corner of the old city is the Hofburg Palace a massive complex that contains the Burgkapelle – the chapel where the Boys Choir sings Mass, the Stallburg – where the Spanish Riding School performs on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings the Imperial Treasuries – Habsburg Crown Jewels- and the elaborate Austrian National Library. All this and much more is Vienna.
