What they don&#8217;t realize is that there   are no shortcuts to losing the weight. What they also don&#8217;t realize is   that if they do actually shed the pounds using shortcuts, the weight   won&#8217;t stay off. See, what people don&#8217;t understand is that the weight   loss journey (process) is as important as the destination (the results).</p>
<p>Why   is that you may be asking? Well, though the process of losing weight: <br />

<p>The easy, fast track ways just won&#8217;t do that for you.   You won&#8217;t get that with shortcuts or even diets.</p>
<p>The fast track   methods or diets will change your habits for the short term, but after   it is over, you will return to the same old comfortable bad habits. The   weight then usually returns, sometimes with a vengeance. This happens   because nothing was learned, in the process. Once again, weight loss is   all about the journey not the destination. You   have to watch out for a lot of dangers, if you&#8217;ve ever lifted weights,   you&#8217;ve gotta watch out so you don&#8217;t lose muscle, if not, well you better   not eat to little, or your metabolism will slow down! Supposedly you   also need to eat really frequently in order to keep your &laquo;metabolic   furnace&raquo; burning. What I&#8217;m going to tell you now might surprise you,   healthy weight loss really isn&#8217;t that complicated:</p>
<p><strong>1: Focus on   eating less</strong></p>
<p>That&#8217;s right. Phrases like &laquo;Your body needs x   amount of vitamin x every day&raquo; fools us into thinking we will die or   suffer aversive health effects if we don&#8217;t get it. If the human body, or   any organism on this planet for that sake, required such a complex mix   of micronutrients in order to function, we surely would have died out a   long time ago.</p>
<p><strong>2: When you&#8217;re feeling unnaturally hungry, drink   water</strong></p>
<p>Most people drink way too little water and get   dehydrated. When you get dehydrated, you lose energy and you get sleepy.   It&#8217;s pretty easy to confuse this feeling with the feeling of hunger &#8211;   and food that&#8217;s dense with sugar does give you some short-term energy   when you eat it, but you&#8217;re still dehydrated. Try drinking a huge glass   of water and waiting a while before you eat if you&#8217;re unnaturally   hungry. You&#8217;ll be surprised at the effects.</p>
<p><strong>3: Give yourself a   break in the weekends</strong></p>
<p>Allow yourself to drink alcohol and eat   good food with your friends and family. If you take your diet into every   aspect of your life, it will become a prison and social activities will   no longer be tempting or rewarding. If you&#8217;re on a small daily deficit   however, this might be a problem as you might make up for it during the   weekend. However as I will explain in the end of this article, a small   daily deficit is not the most realiable weight loss option if you want   to keep up your social life.</p>
<p><strong>4: Don&#8217;t attempt to add extra   meals in order to lose weight</strong></p>
<p>While some fat loss &laquo;experts&raquo;   claim more meals will help you, there&#8217;s no scientific evidence of this.   In fact, by eating more meals you are training your brain to prepare   your body for food more often (meaning you&#8217;ll be hungry all the time). A   common saying in the fitness world is that &laquo;Breakfast is the most   important meal of the day&raquo;. The supporting evidence for this however, is   NOTHING. If you&#8217;re not a breakfast person, you don&#8217;t need to &laquo;get into   the habit of eating breakfast&raquo;. Take a moment and try to think how a   need for breakfast could POSSIBLY have evolved in the human body, taking   into consideration that we&#8217;ve only had an abundance of food for about a   century. Seems pretty illogical doesn&#8217;t it`? Don&#8217;t worry if you eat   breakfast though, most people do(myself included, I&#8217;m a breakfast lover)   and it&#8217;s a great way to gather the family in the morning. But eating   breakfast will not help you lose weight.</p>
<p><strong>5: Don&#8217;t be afraid to   eat a lot less calories then what your so-called &laquo;minimum&raquo; is</strong></p>
<p>As   mentioned earlier, diet &laquo;experts&raquo; will threaten with muscle loss, a   slower metabolism, and loads of other unscientific dangers. Want to know   how to enjoy your weekend? Make sure your workdays consist of a big   caloric deficit. Drop the snacks, drop the in-between-meals and have   filling dinner instead. Your body will get used to it and start burning   off fat for energy when you&#8217;re not eating.</p>

<p>Consider the most common meals you eat. A plate   full of pasta, or a burger and fries. All of these meals are calorie   heavy and massive portions. Portions are getting larger as time goes on,   to boot. If you want to lose weight, you need to work on your portion   size.</p>
<p>Many of us feel that eating a smaller portion size leaves us   hungry still. While you&#8217;re probably telling the truth, you&#8217;re speaking   too soon. Our stomach&#8217;s take up to an hour to react to the food that&#8217;s   been put inside us. This means your brain is no notified immediately   after you finish eating, which is seemingly common sense, but we don&#8217;t   show our understanding of this truth very commonly.</p>
<p>If you want to   lose weight, one of the easiest tips you can embrace is to eat smaller   portions of food. Instead of eating a burger and fries and then having a   large drink, consider eating just the burger. No matter how much food   you eat when hungry, if you give yourself an hour after eating it, you   will notice a difference in your stomach.</p>
<p>The best ways to deal   with this post meal hunger is to drink lots of water after your meal, or   have a warm beverage like tea. I find tea to be the most useful drink   in doing this. Also, having smaller meal portions but more portions   throughout the day is known to help with speeding up your metabolism and   increasing your ability to lose weight. Some people just have snacks   throughout the day instead of three large meals. Three large meals is   probably the worst thing you can do if you&#8217;re trying to lose weight.</p>
<p>On   top of weight loss, smaller portions of food may be your key to living   longer. When a study was conducted on small groups of people that were   out-living the rest of the world, they found one commonality between   these people was they chose to eat smaller portions of food throughout   the day. So not only are smaller portions making you healthier, they may   just help you live a longer, healthier life!</p>

Nutrition does not mean that you have to be trying to   lose weight though. All that is meant by good nutrition is that you are   eating in a wholesome manner that keeps your body healthy.</p>
<p>Eating   healthy is one of the best gifts you can give yourself. When you eat   healthy, you reduce your chances of some serious diseases including   diabetes, cancer, and heart disease.</p>
<p>Maybe you already knew that a   healthy diet is very helpful for health. Still, you may not have   realized how much better your energy, mental focus, and memory would   become if you followed a healthy diet.</p>
<p>This doesn&#8217;t mean that you   need to stop eating some foods entirely. Don&#8217;t think you can never have   dessert again, for instance. <p>The next time you feel hungry for a quick snack, grab a   piece of fruit. Fruit is tasty, attractive, and filling. You should also   try to eat enough fiber and good carbs. Whole grain products are a good   source of both.</p>
<p>Keep both fast food and processed food to a   minimum. Both of these kinds of food are unhealthy &#8211; you should avoid   them whenever possible. Try to cook yourself something instead, or pick   up a pre-made salad at the grocery store if you need a quick meal. This   doesn&#8217;t really take much more time, and the difference it can make to   your health is huge.</p>
